Prohibited AI practice
An AI use the EU AI Act bans outright, such as harmful manipulation, exploiting vulnerabilities or social scoring.
A prohibited AI practice is a use of AI that the EU AI Act bans outright because it is considered a clear threat to people's safety, livelihoods or rights. The list includes harmful manipulation and deception, exploiting vulnerabilities such as age or economic situation, social scoring, and certain uses of biometrics, and the AI Omnibus added a prohibition on systems that generate non-consensual intimate content. For financial agents, the bans on manipulation and on exploiting vulnerabilities are the most relevant, for example in sales and collections.
