Agentic commerce
Buying and selling in which an AI agent finds, selects or pays for goods and services on a customer's behalf.
Agentic commerce is an industry term for buying and selling in which an AI agent finds, compares, selects or pays for goods and services on a customer's behalf, within limits the customer sets. It changes who is at the checkout: the merchant deals with software acting for a person, so identity, authority and evidence must be carried by the transaction itself. Open protocols such as the Agentic Commerce Protocol and the Agent Payments Protocol, and card scheme agent programmes, are building blocks for it.
